Mid Week Competition
|
This competition is open to all members and is normally played on Thursday afternoons. The cost is 50p per player per match, to include tea & biscuit. The game should be played as triples over 14 ends. Playing positions are determined by picking a disc at random. No swapping of discs is allowed, except at the manager's discretion. Although the competition runs during all the season, the winners are those who have amassed the highest number of points during the total number of games. The winner receives a trophy and prize. Runner up and 3rd place receive a prize. When the number of players does not conform to triples, then pairs or rinks should be played. When this happens, the game will be played over 16 ends, but 2 shots are subtracted from each team's scores. When the number of players presents a combination of 3 vs 2, then this cannot be played successfully. On the toss of a coin, two players could play half a game each and their score would count for the half game they had played. (If a player has played half a game, their name should be recorded to ensure that they are not asked to play half a game the following week) The manager of the competition is allowed to play, but he/she must not take precedence over another member who is available to play. Social members are allowed to bowl on payment of a rink fee (currently £2.00) plus 20p for tea and biscuit. However, social members' scores will not count towards the competition. Also, social members should not pick a disc, they should only play either lead or two at the Manager's discretion. Accounts should be kept for each game and monies passed to the Club Treasurer. The Friday evening triples start on Friday 21st April. Triples are played as far as the number of players is divisible to allow for triples. Other combinations may be played to ensure everyone who turns up is able to play, at the discretion of the organiser. Playing positions are determined by picking a disc at random. Although the competition runs during all the season, the winner is the player who has amassed the highest number of points during the total number of games. Start times are as follows: 21st April, 28th April, 5th May - cut-off time 17:50, start time 18:00 12th May up to and including 4th August - cut-off time 18:20, start time 18:30 11th August, 18th August, 25th August, 1st September - cut-off time 17|:50, start time 18:00 The 10 minute cut-off time for entry gives everyone time to get kit out, draw positions, etc, to enable us to start on time. If you are running a little late, you can phone the club and you will be included in your turn in the draw. Competition rules are on the noticeboard behind the 2017 score chart. |
