Mid Week Competition
|
This competition, known as the Lindon Trophy or Midweek League, will be held on Thursday afternoons, and all club members are welcome to take part.
It will commence on the first Thursday after opening day and will continue to the end of the season. Matches will start at 2.00pm, with registration open until 1.45pm. Wherever possible matches will be played as triples, over 14 ends. Depending on the number attending it may be necessary to play one or two pairs. Pairs will be over 16 ends (as this involves more shots, each team in pairs will be deducted two points from their total for the purpose of the competition). If there is an odd number of attendees, then the two final players to register will be offered the opportunity to play half a game each. Playing positions and rinks will be decided by random drawing of discs. Changing of discs is discouraged but may be allowed exceptionally at the discretion of the manager. There will be a rink fee for each game. This will be £1.00 for playing members and £3.00 for social members. Accounts will be kept for each game and all money received will be given to the Club Treasurer. The competition winner will be decided by a player’s ten highest scores over the season. The winner will receive the Lindon Trophy. Also cash prizes may be awarded to the first three players, at the discretion of the directors. Whilst social members are more than welcome to play, it should be noted that their scores will not be counted towards the competition. All club rules relating to conduct and etiquette must be adhered to in this competition. These rules apply to the 2023 season and take into account decisions made at the last general meeting. The Friday evening triples start on Friday 21st April. Triples are played as far as the number of players is divisible to allow for triples. Other combinations may be played to ensure everyone who turns up is able to play, at the discretion of the organiser. Playing positions are determined by picking a disc at random. Although the competition runs during all the season, the winner is the player who has amassed the highest number of points during the total number of games. Start times are as follows: 21st April, 28th April, 5th May - cut-off time 17:50, start time 18:00 12th May up to and including 4th August - cut-off time 18:20, start time 18:30 11th August, 18th August, 25th August, 1st September - cut-off time 17|:50, start time 18:00 The 10 minute cut-off time for entry gives everyone time to get kit out, draw positions, etc, to enable us to start on time. If you are running a little late, you can phone the club and you will be included in your turn in the draw. Competition rules are on the noticeboard behind the 2017 score chart. |
