Founded in 1897, Barbourne Bowling Club is a vibrant, growing club that offers outdoor bowling at all levels, and welcomes new members. From coaching for the novice, to competitive leagues and competitions for the experienced bowler, Barbourne offers a wide range of bowling for all, together with a licensed bar, social events, and a friendly, welcoming membership.
We welcome all new members, so why not come down to the club, or e-mail us via the contact form, and have a go. There are qualified coaches within the club who will be more than happy to meet you and get you started. You will be entitled to four free sessions where bowls and flat shoes will be provided. After these sessions it would be your choice as to whether you join or not to take your skills further and become a member of this great club.
It really is a brilliant way of meeting new people for either social or competitive bowling so why not visit us, have a look around the club and enjoy a drink at the bar UPDATE: Whilst current social distancing restrictions are in place, please email via our Contact Us tab on this website if you are interested in finding out more about the Club - we'll be delighted to welcome you, once the current pandemic is behind us. |
COVID-19 UPDATE - LOCKDOWN 3
Unfortunately, with Worcester being moved into tier 3 after Christmas we still have to stay closed in the New Year, but keep in touch with each other people and stay safe....it will get better soon, hopefully for the start of the outdoor season.
BOWLING NEWS
Under strict social distancing and following health and safety measures to comply with Covid-19 legislation, we were able to offer our members the opportunity to bowl during the 2020 season - we started a little late, but ran the season for as long as weather and light permitted. Our Saturday triples league proved very popular and did so much for our members' mental health as well as providing physical exercise and competitive bowling. Additionally, we ran a limited number of club competitions, and even managed to hold our hugely popular Thursday League and Tommy Evans Friday night competition. Congratulations to all our winners, some of whom are pictured below - stay safe over the winter and we look forward to seeing you all for a full programme of bowling next season.
BAR NEWS
We were delighted that so many members have been able to enjoy our Sunday lunch drinks on the terrace, and even happier when we could move indoors to our newly-refurbished cosy conservatory, with table service.
Once this second lockdown is over, and government legislation allows it, we'll be open every Sunday for drinks from 12 noon till 2pm for all our members who would like to indulge in a pint (or whatever takes their fancy), but don't feel ready to face the pub just yet.
